Without doubt, Christmas is our favorite time of year! Each winter seems to bring new memories. We think back to the fun that we had as children growing up in Jamaica and Barbados: the smell of baked goodies, the sounds of the nighttime carolers, the sight of the bright lights and decorations, the crisp morning air as we headed out for the 5:30 a.m. service on Christmas morning, and the feeling of joy as we would fellowship with family and friends during this most wonderful time of the year.

Each year our daughters, Natalie and Natasha, become more aware of the Christmas season. And while we delight with them in their excitement, we try to impress upon them the true meaning of the season: that Christmas is the Birthday of a King. The reason we sing, the reason we celebrate, the reason we rejoice is because Jesus came to demonstrate His love fro us. (Read the story of the miraculous birth of Jesus in the Bible, Luke Chapters 1 & 2.)

Celebrating the birth of Jesus should be a time of rejoicing. Yet too often Christmas brings loneliness and pain to a world searching for peace and joy in things that satisfy only momentarily, if at all. Have you found true peace? Have you experienced true joy? We believe true fulfillment in life begins when you find the peace of Jesus and experience the joy of serving Him. What's the first step? It's simple: Ask Jesus to come into your heart, forgive your sins and make you a new person. If you say these words and mean them, this Christmas a season of new beginnings for you. The same Jesus who came into the world as a baby 2000 years ago will come into your heart today, and Christmas will be for you what it is meant to be: a celebration of the birthday of our King Jesus Christ.
